Endurance Rider

Brook is the only person to win the Tom Quilty National Championships 7 times. His next rival has won it 4 times.

Brook continues his success with the Maktoum family in Australia as trainer and manager of Gheerulla Stables. He is now in his 17th year working with the Royal family. In addition he has developed his own horse breeding program at

Brookleigh Stud, where he and his wife train and export horses overseas for international competition.

Brook was recently a guest at the Ride With The Stars 160km Race in Dubai where he was the only invited overseas guest to complete in the event.

Since 1977 Brook has been 7 times National Champion and represented Australia 4 times; twice at the World Championships and twice at the World Equestrian Games.

As the type of person to set goals for himself, Brook’s aims have been

  1. To be a world class endurance rider
  2. To be a successful international endurance trainer
  3. To own and breed champion endurance horses

To date he has achieved all three goals and is now well on his way to achieving that magical fourth – World Champion!

As a competitor, his record is unmatched by any other Australian Endurance Rider. In distances ranging from 50km – 400km Brook has over 70 wins and over 50 Best Conditioned Awards.

Brook has completed 13 Australian National Championship 160km rides. When you think that up to 300 competitors start one National Championship – Brook has always been in the top 10!

Brook is the current National Champion and has just won his 7th victory this month riding his own horse Brookleigh Excalibur at the Tom Quilty Ride which was held in Kilkivan in his home state of Queensland.
