Well, what can I say, 2016 was a year of great highs for me and my team of dedicated staff, and talented horses!

A very promising young event team was the result of hard work and meticulous training, and the help I get from all those that support me, has led to us heading into 2017 with so much promise.

Riggles R: Whom I purchased in March last year, has been the stable breadwinner, winning and placing at nearly every Eventing and dressage start she entered last season. She had only one Show jumping rail, the entire year, and to top it off she was accepted into State and National dressage titles, with fantastic results!!  I’m really pleased with her fast progression; she started the year a green intro horse and comes into this season a very confident Pre- Novice mount, nearing one star in the next few starts. I seriously couldn’t ask any more if this little mare; whilst she can be tricky at times, the idiosyncrasies are well worth the effort!

Emadilo Solemn: This horse has been one of our brightest stars and whilst he was sidelined for most of last year, it didn’t stop him posting some fantastic results. A horse I picked as a young racehorse that I rode through all his track work, was very generously gifted to me from the Godolphin conglomerate.

Emadilo Jetstream R:  This young mare has the world at her fancy little feet. I broke her in, alongside my dressage coaches, Rochelle and Greg Andrews. They had such a huge opinion of her, “a team Medal horse”, I think were their words. I never, in my wildest dreams thought such a talented young horse would make her way to my barn, but here I am living the dream.

Jazza was broken in early last year, I took her to a few dressage comps; she won and placed 3rd in her first tests. A green wobbly baby, she still produced bold, correct and fluent tests that left much for the judges to appreciate. She then had a very quiet 4 months and grew into a real superstar!

The real joy came the first time we free jumped her, so bold and effortless. Pure joy!!

Fiftyshadesofgrey; The stable stalwart.

Another generous gift from my track work days at Godolphin, this horse has melted my heart and been the personality around the yard. After moving him up to Two star last year, and finding he was flustered by the pressure, we gave him some time in the paddock to freshen up and start this year off with a bang.

I have a couple of OTT horses waiting to come into work, so I must say, the excitement level is high!

With our quarantine and spelling business bringing around 300 horses through our gates every year, we are always kept on our toes. But I’m a big believer in “do what you love, and love what you do”, so the hundreds of hours spent prepping these horses makes every day busy and challenging, but rewarding all the same.

Goals for the year include Sydney, Melbourne and Wallaby Hill 3 day events with Riggles and Fiftyshadesofgrey.

I think at the rate Solemn is going we should see him popping around pre novice tracks in the next 6 months! Baby Jetstream R will make her eventing debut in around a month’s time and we will plan around her confidence and performance.

Riggles will also keep up with her dressage and hopefully qualify for Nationals again this year; Jetstream will be aimed at States in the coming months.

A huge thanks always goes to Anita and Paul Budgeon at Blue Chip feeds. Their service is second to none, and our horses thrive on the entire Blue Chip Range. We use and recommend Blue Chip Pro, RLF, Karma and instant Calmers for our event team, while the spellers enjoy the benefits of Blue Chip Original.

We head to The Riders Series at SIEC this weekend, then Scone ODE, Canberra ODE and Berrima this month, so it’s all systems go for the Emadilo Equestrian Team.
